Paul George Global School conducted a session on ‘Mindful Parenting’ by Ms.Karuna Thakur on August 1, 2015 for our esteemed Parents. The session started with a welcome address by Principal, Ms.Geeta Karunakaran. Followed by a brief introduction of Ms.Karuna Thakur.

Ms.Thakur started the session with interactive questions like how many of you know driving and once Parents responded she asked them what feelings go through their respective minds while driving. The responses were like some felt relaxed, some had tensions in minds, some felt focused on road etc.
This was co related to the fact that children are part of FOCUS and parent’s mindful presence is very important in the first six years of a child’s development. Various instances and day to day examples of dealing with children were explained by Ms.Thakur and points were discussed on how to deal with the same. Parents have to be good listeners and they have to be involved with the children on a day to day basis.
The session was very knowledgeable for the parents and finally ended with parents asking their queries. Ms.Thakur gave her valued suggestions on how to deal with problems.
The session concluded with Principal, Ms.Geeta Karunakaran addressing the parents on utilization of quality time with children. Spending quality time in today’s time and date is not going to a mall, dining out or leaving the children in kid’s zone. It’s important to spend quality time by doing activities with their child and giving them a listening ear. To be mindfully present with their child is very essential for the bond between the parent and child.
Gadgets like mobile, televisions should not be a priority when a child approaches the parent. Leaving the addiction of phones and listening to your child will be more fruitful than other things in life. Principal, finally concluded by promising them with more sessions in future .
Feedback of the session was taken from the parents at the end.
